Don't Push the Red Button!

Yesterday I was visiting Kevin at his dormitory.  I was apparently his first visitor, because I pushed the buzzer...instead of letting me in, Kevin somehow pushed the red emergency button.  Suddenly the alarm started ringing, and we ran around frantically trying to stop it.  There was a button that said something to the effect of "stop the alarm" but we pushed it to no avail.  We banged on the telephone, we pried up buttons, nothing worked.

Then right as Kevin called the school for help, he spotted a policeman sprinting towards his dorm.  Haha, from there, it was all downhill.  The policeman didn't speak English and we fumbled through many apologies, trying to explain how we accidentally pushed the button and were fine.  Then, two people from the Student Affairs office showed up, asking, "Are you okay?"  The policeman and them talked a bit in Japanese, and we heard bits and pieces of "gaijin" (or foreigner).  Sigh, they were probably talking about how stupid we are.

Anyway, Kevin had to give him his passport number and everything.  Eventually everyone left and we had a good laugh.  Three people showed up for our alarm call -- I guess that's good service.  ;)

Moral of the story: don't push the red button!
